Rising Inflation, Increased Mortgage Rates And Reduced Earnings Look Set To Reduce House Prices Even More
There would seem to be further bad news on the horizon for those groups who are on the housing ladder and want to leave it behind! With the rate of inflation in the United Kingdom growing way past the Bank of England’s target rate; a looming chance of borrowing rate increases and a lot of job losses due over the upcoming year, the chances of the home market improving or merely staying at current levels are low. Not a fantastic outlook for those people who need to make a quick property sale. They are sadly due to go through another year of disappointment and financial problems as the down turn takes effect once more.
There would seem to be no system to manage inflation at the moment, even though government cuts and job losses are due throughout most sectors people still need to feed themselves, fuel their vehicles and deal with their energy bills. So rises in food stuff and petrol prices (which directly affect our inflation rate) are already making themselves felt, keeping that rate much higher than required. The VAT rate has just been increased too, and following this will come the consequences of the job losses in both public and private organisations. The trouble is that inflation will carry on rising because most of the calculation is based on the essentials, all of which are growing in cost as we have seen.
As this carries on rising the Bank of England will be under more pressure to increase borrowing rates and there we have it, the property market is shrinking once more. It is not difficult to understand why those who are not already mixed up in the property market are staying well away. The market is so fragile at the moment that all but the most barefaced are keeping clear. First time purchasers might be better to keep their powder dry, if the tendancy continues there will be lots more deals to be had in the coming months ahead as asking prices drop and vendors who need to sell house fast become more and more fraught.
